Australia's Miles Amatosero has been banned for three matches

Sydney (AFP) - Australia lock forward Miles Amatosero was on Tuesday banned for three matches for dangerous play that led to a red card in Australia’s 35-32 win over Japan in Osaka last weekend.

Amatosero will, as a result, miss Saturday’s return Test against Japan in Townsville.

A disciplinary committee ruled that Amatosero had been guilty of dangerous play after his shoulder made contact with the head of Japan captain Warner Dearns at a 33rd minute ruck.

Amatosero was suspended from rugby for three weeks, equating to three matches.

But he could return for the third of those – against Argentina on August 29 – if he takes part in a World Rugby coaching intervention programme.
